Dr. Willy Mucyo completed his Master of Medicine in Internal Medicine at the University of Rwanda, where he served as chief resident. He was a practicing internist at King Faisal Hospital Kigali until he was accepted at Aga Khan University Nairobi, to complete a 3 year cardiology fellowship.

Completing the fellowship outside Rwanda has required living apart from his wife and newborn as well as adding to the financial burden of completing the training outside of Rwanda. His determination and commitment has not wavered and he is currently on target to complete his training in 2023. He has been involved in the success of establishing cardiovascular fellowship in Rwanda. He will serve as a mentor to the future cardiovascular trainees in Rwanda.
